Encuentro was founded in 1986. The first store was opened in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Encuentro initially set its sights on the wholesale market, but the success of the first store convinced the company to open more retail outlets.
To ensure the best chance of success for his ideas, Raúl Méndez vertically integrated the company and developed all areas of the business, finding inspiration in the American business model and mentality. Since the end of the 90s, Encuentro has maintained close ties with various members of the US's National Retail Federation and the Fashion Institute Technology of New York (FIT) for consulting and training exchanges.
In 2000, the company began its expansion in Spain. This period also saw the forging of an organisation firmly committed to employing professionals with extensive industry experience.
Encuentro employs 850 people and has over 126 stores in Spain.
Part of the company's mission is sustainable development. Encuentro strives to devise environmental measures and initiatives for both its stores and offices.
This environmental awareness results in energy savings, waste reduction and plastic recycling.
EXCHANGES AND REFUNDS
For an exchange or refund, simply return the item (unworn, unaltered and with the labels attached) to one of our stores within one month of purchase (one week for discounted items) with the sales receipt.
Items with exterior labels can be exchanged with the sales receipt. For reasons of hygiene, tights, socks and jewellery cannot be exchanged.
Your refund is returned using the original payment method. Our exchanges and refund policy is an additional guarantee that does not affect the legal guarantees and other consumer rights protected by law in Spain.
RESERVING AN ITEM IN STORE
You can reserve up to two items free of charge in your Encuentro store. To do so, you need to provide your name and telephone number.
Items are reserved for two days.
Reserves are subject to in-store stock availability.
Reserves cannot be made in sales periods or on offers or discounted or end-of-season items.
After the two days' reserve period, reserved items are put on sale again.

You can request alterations to garments in our stores by simply presenting the item's receipt. Payment for the alteration must be made when you order it (i.e., when you buy or bring the item in; not when you pick it up).

TAKING CARE OF YOUR GARMENT
To ensure the long life of your Encuentro garment, please follow all the standard recommendations for washing, drying and bleaching clothes.
Special care needs to be taken with natural fabrics, such as wool and cotton, which shrink if washed at too high a temperature.
Synthetic products like polyester, nylon and Lycra should be washed in warm water and ironed at low temperature as they are highly sensitive to heat.
Please read the labels. Correctly caring for your Encuentro garment not only extends its life but also helps look after the environment.
You can exchange an Encuentro gift voucher for another item of your choice of equal or greater value. If you can't find any item you like, we give you a non-expiring voucher for the same value as the gift garment or garments.
For a refund, you need to provide the original receipt detailing the prices.
Refunds cannot be made with only the gift voucher.
